Youths of Tea Garden in the Maoist Recruitment List

Deprived of many government schemes Tea labourers becomes the soft target by the insurgents. This time children from the age group of 12 and above are being targeted by the Maoists according to sources.
During the festive season Maoists are planning to scout youths from tea gardens for fresh recruitments, the sources said. Plans are made to recruit youth through allies and the details of youths’ education, family background and location are being shared via WhatsApp added the sources.
The process of recruitment has speed up due to shortage of manpower in the Maoist camps. According to sources two batches of Maoist after their 18-month training in Jharkhand and Odisha are ready to arrive by January 2016.
A short documentary films are loaded in mobile sets to persuade the boys of age 12 to 13 years to join the Naxalite movement, said the sources. Moreover seven districts of upper Assam Dhemaji, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Golaghat sharing borders with neighbouring hill states, while the belt along the river is a breeding ground for Naxal activities added the sources.
To tackle the high-tech Maoist activities the security forces want police special branches at both the Centre and the state equipped technically to counter them. Meanwhile the arrest of Maoist Aditya Borah at Dergaon in Golaghat district was a big setback for the Naxal movement here, said the sources.
Recently, the Assam-Nagaland border areas in and around Merapani have witnessed Maoist activities and festival season can be a peak time for the activities, the sources added.
