First mega Food Park in Jharkhand

Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Food processing minister inaugurated the first mega food park in Getalsud village in Jahrkjhand in presence of CM Raghubar Das, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, minister of state for food processing industries and Ram Tahal Choudhary, MP Lok Sabha, Ranchi.

At the cost of Rs 114.73 crore in an area of 51.50 acres the food park has been set up to give an impetus to the growth of the food processing sector in Jharkhand. The park will have the facility of multi chamber cold storage, vegetable dehydration line, dry warehouse, modern quality control and testing laboratory and other processing facilities for fruits & vegetables.

Badal told that park will help in providing better prices to farmers, reduce wastage, add value to agricultural produce and create huge opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment for the youth of the state.

People not only from Ranchi district but also from nearby districts will get the benefit. The mega food park has a central processing centre (CPC) at Ranchi and six primary processing centres are being set up at Lohardaga, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Belchampa, Domchach and Patratu to provide strong backward linkages.

Moreover, the park is expected to provide employment for around 6000 people and about 25,000-30,000 farmers in its catchment area will be benefited.
