In the year 2015 the number of case registered against gazette officers is almost 94% higher than 2014. CBI had registered 52 cases in 2014 after a similar exercise of physical and technical surveillance against such officers.
However, details were not disclosed regarding 101 officer.
Since Sinha took the charge of CBI in December 2014, fighting corruption and crime effectively was his top most priority. As part of its crackdown on “corrupt” officials, the CBI also registered 67 cases in 2015, which was 56% more than the 2014.
Further, Sinha cited the shortage of manpower as states are not keen on sending their officers on central deputation. He said that at the cutting edge levels, the staff crunch is “critical”.
