Top Maoist Leader Killed in an Encounter in Jharkhand

Maoist leader was killed in an encounter by security force in Gumla district of Jharkhand on February 23. The operation was carried out by a joint team of CRPF and Jharkhand Police in which Mantriji alias Sanjay Yadav was killed following a gunfight in the Konrebera-Palkot area of Gumla.

According Bhimsen Tuti SSP of Gumla, Sanjay was driving a bike when security forces stopped him. He left the bike and started running towards the forest when asked to surrender. Police and CRPF followed him in which Yadav fired many rounds at the security forces. Ultimately security forces killed him in the encounter. One pistol, one machine gun and over 60 live bullets were recovered from him.

Yadav was the zonal commander of CPI (Maoists) and carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh. After the encounter security forces are carrying out a combing operation near the encounter site.
