Election Commission of India Announced the Dates of Election for 5 States

Election Commission of India today announced the dates of Assembly Election for all five states including Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The Assam Assembly Elections will be held in two phases. Polling for the first phase will take place on April 4 and the voting for the second phase on April 11. The results of the Assam Assembly election will be declared on May 19.

West Bengal Assembly Elections 2016 is divided into six phases. Polling for the first phase will take place on April 4 and 11, in second phase on April 17, third phase on April 21, fourth phase on April 25, fifth phase on April 30 and the last phase on May 5. The results of West Bengal Assembly Elections will be declared on May 19.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry Assembly Elections 2016 will be held on May 16 and the results will be declared on May 19.

The Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately from the date of announcement. All the provisions of the Model Code will apply to the whole of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry and will be applicable to all candidates, political parties and, the State Governments of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry. The Model Code of Conduct shall also be applicable to the Union Government insofar as announcements/policy decisions pertaining for these States/UT is concerned.
