A teacher seeks leave to work as labourer in Dabhra block of Jangir-Chapa district in Chhattisgarh. Sanjeev Kumar Bharadwaj is a teacher working on salary basis sought leave citing the reason to work as a daily wage labourer. The teacher also mentioned that he is unable to bear his family expenses due to the delayed salaries.

However, the principal Resham Lal Patel approved the leave application stating 'Mazdoori karne ke liye avkaash pradaan kia jata hai' (leave is being sanctioned to work as a labour).

Meanwhile, the letter (with seal and signature of Block Level Officer) went viral on internet and Education department of Chhattisgarh suspended the principal for approving leave to the teacher, who wanted to work as a daily wage labourer.

The teachers from Bhatapara have also submitted an application to the education department saying that they are also compelled to take up work as labourers as the teachers have not been paid for the last three months.

Shiksha Karmis are teachers appointed by panchayat bodies on payment basis. The teachers in Dabhra block haven't received salaries from past three months due to delay in sanction of funds from the government.
