Mizoram gets its first broad gauge goods train on Monday. A goods train carrying 2,600 metric tons of rice arrived at Bairabi Railway Station in Mizoram from Guwahati.
John Rotluangliana, transport minister of Mizoram received the train and said that the arrival of the “large train” was a significant milestone in the history of Mizoram.
Train service in a broad gauge at the Bairabi Station on the Mizoram-Assam border would ensure the low price of commodities at the same time producers of the State could transport their product outside at cheaper rates.
