Vice chairman of Tea Board of India (TBI) and adviser of North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) Bidyananda Barkakoty told that the App will help in the digitization of farm diaries, method of self-certification and tracing the use safe chemicals in tea plantation.
The NETA and Tata Global Beverages Limited organized a workshop in Golaghat on Wednesday on the App for small tea growers. TBI Northeast zonal office executive director Sanjio Kumar, TBI deputy director Dipankar Mukherjee, small tea growers, owners of bough leaf tea factories and tea estate factories also attended the workshop.
Barkakoty said the objective of the workshop was to link small tea growers with experts for advisories on GAP through online platform. The workshop was also aimed at ensuring compliance of plant protection code (PPC) for pest and disease management along with forecasting attacks of pests and diseases.
"The new app is still in its evolving stage and is yet to overcome many challenges," Barkakoty added.
